Dr.A.R.Veeramani
Registrar, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University

Prof.Dr.A.R.Veeramani is the first Registrar appointed by the Government of Tamil Nadu for the newly established Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University by Tamil Nadu Act No.33 of 2008. Born in June 1956 at Periyakilambady Village, Thiruvannamali District, a famous temple town in Tamil Nadu. Prof.A.R.Veeramani started his academic career as early in July 1984 as Lecturer in Economics, ICE, University of Madras. He rose up to the position of Reader in Economics, and later as Professor and Head of the Department of Economics of the erstwhile P.G. Centre, Vellore, of the University of Madras. With the establishment of Thiruvalluvar University in October 2002, he continued to hold this position at Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore. While officiating as Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, he was endued with the special responsibility as Registrar in-charge, Thiruvalluvar University. He successfully accomplished his duties and responsibilities as Registrar in-charge, until he was appointed as Registrar, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. He holds M.A(Economics), M.A(Pol.Sci.), BL, M.Phil (Economics) and Ph.D (Economics).

He has a long academic career for over two decades with teaching experience at UG & PG Level. Under his guidance, 11 scholars have obtained their Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in the faculty of Economics. He has authored three books and participated in seminars, National and International Conferences, and has presented more than 65 papers, and contributed articles in National and International Journals.

He is recipient of Annual Case Study Award by the Indian Institute of Public Administration (I.I.P.A) for his study on Sugar Industry in Tamil Nadu. He holds Senior Fellowship/Fellowships/Membership in Professional, Academic Institutions viz Vellore Institute of Development Studies (VIDS). Tamil Nadu Economic Association (TNEA), Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Indian Society of Industrial and Fiscal Society (ISIFS), Indian Economic Association (IEA), Indian Political Science Association (IPSA), Indian Public Administration Association (IPAA), Indian Society of Victimology (ISV).
